About Esplanade
Founded by Larry Maligie in 2012, Esplanade is now in its third incarnation and remains focused on fun, quality music and a packed dance floor. The band plays hit after hit from the late '70s and '80s — the songs people know, love, dance to and sing out loud with.
The set draws inspiration from artists including Journey, Blondie, Pat Benatar, The Police, Bon Jovi, Heart, Queen, Fleetwood Mac, Loverboy, Tom Petty, K.C. and the Sunshine Band, Huey Lewis and many more. From the first note to the last, Esplanade is an '80s dance-party experience with non-stop energy.
Meet the Band
Lead Vocals
Lynnette has been involved in music for most of her life, playing violin and bass, singing in school and community choirs, and performing in local theater. Before Esplanade she was a lead vocalist and bassist with Chico-area bands 13 and Pour Decisions. She loves rocking the stage and singing the songs that keep the dance floor moving all night.
Guitar & Vocals
Demian has been a musician all his life. He started on violin before moving to guitar and other stringed instruments at a young age, and has built his career around music through teaching, recording and producing. He brings that lifelong experience to Esplanade and is excited to share the stage with this group of musicians.
Bass Guitar & Vocals
Originally from Spain, Isaac anchors the bottom end on bass. His experience ranges from the Spanish metal band OchorizO to the WWCC Jazz Combo and Chico bands The Fritz and Walk on Blvd. He also plays ukulele and hand drums. On stage, his goal is simple: play great music and make you dance.
Drums & Vocals
Keeping the beat at the back of the stage is Jeff Ochs, a veteran of Northern California bands including original alternative-rock groups King Friday and Pep Rally as well as cover and party bands Foxfire, Katzpaw and Rocktopus. Jeff keeps the groove locked in and the room moving.
Keyboards & Vocals
Larry rounds out Esplanade's full '80s sound with the keyboard tones and vocals that give the music its signature character. A longtime Chico musician, he has played with local favorites including Indeed, The Rubberband, Chico Ska Orchestra, Urban Legend and Swamp Daddy. Larry founded Esplanade in 2012.
